Birthright

Birthright

A Poem by Gaia Octavia

I was born
with hands
too rough
to touch you

With arms
never quite
strong enough
to hold you

With eyes
that never
had the stuff
to find you

And a heart
too hardened,
too tough,
to truly love you

Don't ask me why, I felt like reading an earlier work by you.
And I wasn't disappointed.

Though honestly I wish it was longer,
It was a good read.
Sad and surprising, I came here expecting to see something about Birthright that was positive. Usually it is. You are born with the right to something. This is about someone being born without the proper means.

Great poem. I might go through more of your less recent stuff later.

Thank you very much ☺
I liked this, the "birthright" being fate, and how sometimes, we are not right for the ones we want to be right for. Great job!
