The Snowflake.

The Snowflake.

A Poem by Gaiamethod

Waiting for a winter’s day.
With the soft snow falling
and the whisper of a breeze,
the snow flakes gently move through the air.
Everything is quiet, soft and yet still.
There is no movement for it is night and
Day has yet to arrive.

Then will the sun shine and the snow will be no more.
It will melt and run in rivulets past the pavements
And the roadsides.
It will travel the long journey to the sea
Where it will eventually join with the Mother Ocean.
There it will become part of the greater consciousness of life’s seas.
And will transform itself, undying, yet not itself in its old form.

Its journey has been long,
From snowflake to sea.
And does it regret its long journey?
Its journey of change and transformation?
Or does it sing out with joy that it is no longer alone,
Separated from all its kind in one beautiful form?
Does it have regrets that it did not become something else?
As if there was something else that it could have become?

No, it rejoices.
Rejoices that it has joined the millions of other snowflakes
Who have also returned to their source.
For the sea is themselves and the beginning of all things.
Why would it regret being that?
How could it regret?
For is not everything part of the whole?
Part of the human experience on Earth?

How can you regret the part you play in Humanity’s Destiny?
Sing your joy that you are part of a great sea,
A great ocean of consciousness.
Alive and free,
At last.
