Lilies in a graveyard

Lilies in a graveyard

A Poem by alan dietrich
"

Needing to get over to get over my fear and self doubt I'm starting to have very quickly, This is an older work so it's probably RIDDLED with things that could be improved upon

"

I walk with my head low around the graveyard where my dear Mary now lies.

The willow and olive trees sway in the soft wind.

Their twisted trunks making them look like the embodiment of something as old if not older than time itself.

Did I ever tell you that this graveyard was built on a beautiful field of lilies?

Just like mushrooms that spring in a backyard,

these little flowers of reliance keep sprouting up

despite some peoples’ efforts to remove them.

When they are in full bloom however like what I saw under that tree it is the most

peaceful and magnificent

thing I have ever seen, only with pops of gray from the gravestones ruining everything.
