The Garden Tonight

The Garden Tonight

A Poem by Joshua Espinosa

All I see now
   Are stars above.
Life without you here
   Is lonely.

The blooming jasmine
   Reminded me
Of the certain woman
   I marry.

These finger spaces
   Misses you, love.
Damn, they miss you
   Badly.

Wherever you are
   Is where my heart is.
Rest well, my love,
   My Andy.

This sounds simple, sweet, & sincere. Sometimes I get too tangled up in word crafting, but when it comes to love, a straightforward approach is best, like you've done here. You do a great job of conveying a strong sense of longing, but I also love how you end it with a note of acceptance for whatever reasons the two must be apart (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
