A White Night

A White Night

A Poem by Gaurav
"

Delve into unknown to kill the known

"
Simpler truths
are spoken once in a billion years

Delusional, Disgusting
society puts these truths into such categories

I came across a path
while my eyes struggled to remain close
during Brahmna hours

Sleep soothed me
but whiteness woke me up
I walked
as if it was a road to heaven
serene, white and infinite

Delusional, yes it seemed
Disgusting, if not

I witnessed a White Crow and Black Dove
Flying without purpose
In and out of a black cloud

The path did not end
yet I never felt tired
Moments turned into eras
and eras into nothingness
and nothingness into a particle
--
thus began Life
from a White Night

Many lines are deep.. and some are even deeper.. which now has my attention to check out your work. Since it has been quite long saying googbye to literature & to my old writerish life, i find it hard to understand such philosophical poetry (which wasn't the case since i was too touched with writing), but i can understand when you walk with life; and time, many things are left behind - and to me, writing has been one of them.

I would appreciate if you could help me understand the meaning of your poetry, esp. the meaning of lines: 'white crow and black dove' - sounds too deep for me.

.. and also the meaning of 'a white night' as well please. If possible.
In my much-younger college days (back in the 1970's) it was common for people to sit around having philosophical discussions which sounded like this. I guess some people still spend time pondering the known vs the unknown, but in the end, I feel such philosophical musings are a waste of time becuz when each aspect of life happens, it still takes us completely by surprise. We can never know. Trying to know gives a false sense of security. Your poem sounds like all the control freaks who can't face the inherent uncertainty of life, so they hammer out fancy-sounding philosophies for what it all means. I kinda love how your poem sounds so sophisticated & multi-dimensional, even tho I do not believe this kind of philosophy leads to anything related to life (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thank you Ruth for your kind comments
The white crow and the black dove, a reversal of what is fact. Flying in and out of a black cloud. I wish there had been white clouds too. I wish I had seen the white crow and the black dove flying in and out of white clouds. And then again I wish I had seen crows and doves without colour flying in and out of clouds without colour. We are so fixated on black and white, it makes my heart grieve.

thank you Chris for your review...yes that is how we are conditioned to see
Nice penning Gaurav ...
The mention of brahman hours is like ink at right stroke ...
I like that and the contrast feature of white crow and black dove adds further beauty to the poem .
And the second last stanza is very meaningful ... I enjoyed this poem 🤍😊
