Buttercup

Buttercup

A Poem by Gary H
"

I wrote this for my dearest and was too embarrassed to send it to her. Instead I entered the poem into a competition........see below (in the note for reviewers what was said).

Melting into the luscious grass,
Cool air breezing lightly,
Refreshing senses.
Turning to say tender words,
Realising you are not there,
Instead alive in my thoughts,
I say them anyway,
To a buttercup,
All alone.
One flower,
A wish for hope,
Blowing a kiss
Up to the fluffy white clouds
Travelling the skies,
Believing in my heart
Dreams come true,
And one day,
I will be with you.

Author's Note

Gary H
'Before going any further, Gary, let me make one thing clear.....your poem was selected for publication, and as a contest semi-finalist, on the basis of your unique talent and artistic vision'......Now send some money and see your poem transform into a 'classic, coffee-table quality hardbound volume - printed in two colours on fine-milled paper specifically selected to last for generations'. At this point I laughed rather a lot but thought everyone here should be aware at how easy it is to get taken in by offers that paint you as a wonderful writer!

I know I certainly was.You are a wiser man now and realise if you post in the cafe you will get an honest feedback from those who have no axe to grind

A pleasant write to read ,well chosen words in poetic prose but I am certain she would have found much more to praise than I do

This is a beautiful declaration of love Gary. I enjoyed it! :) How's the sketch going for that hero? You are a wonderful writer and this is no exception.

Love,
Stephanie

The simple title caught my attention and then I was surprised by such a pretty poem. I love the scene painted here. This poem makes me long for springtime and hope for love. I very much enjoyed it.

My dear, this is so romantic. So innocent yet seductive. A flower. A buttercup.
How my heart is touched. Believing that your heart will guide you...in that wind..
What a lucky woman she is!!!

Such a romantic you are! I hope you did end up sharing this with her, that would win her heart, and be so much better than any contest.
The piece is so fluid and is such a joy to read.
Very nice!

Very nice :-)

I love this, Gary....it's perfect for springtime, and I do hope that you showed it to her.

This is such a blessedly romantic work. It also offers us a hint of Spring... which I am looking forward to. I really like this work. It flows gracefully like clouds moving lazily across the sky. Really fine poem.

as for Poetry.com... I am reminded of Andy Warhol's promise of 15 minutes of fame. This is their way of offering it... for a price. LOL

Such simplicity but utterly perfect in all that its conveys
I loved this soft and gentle piece..........the thought of that lonely flower being
talked to.......and all the emotions conveyed. i loved reading this!
