Yet Another Gone

Yet Another Gone

A Poem by Victoria

Loving is easy

When your eyes are sewn shut

The constant butterflies known once as your stomach

Lift your emotions stubbornly higher

Only to fall down again

Back into the brier patch

From which you'd thought you'd been freed

The landing hurts, but the fall is worse

Words cut and bruise

Leaving bloodied scars that sink deeper

The longer it's dragged out

Each punch pushes you farther and farther down

Until your lower than dirt

It isn't the man that huts

It's his actions

Hate me all you want

But it doesn't change what was said or done

My heart is again broken

I'm stuck in these thorns
That guard my hell

The branches like fingers

Poking and proding

I was miserable

What more could you have wanted?

I'm tired of explaining myself

To someone that doesn't matter

I'm tired of hurting

Over things I can't control

And I'm tired of apologizing

When time after time it means nothing

So here's to you

Shove it for all I care

Leave me be and let me heal

So that I can be my best

For the next that happens to come by

Maybe I'll live again

Love again

Laugh again

When that day comes

Remember me for what I was

Not what you've made me into
