Power of Love

Power of Love

A Poem by George Barton

Never been so scared
Never been so lost
I had been running for so long
The darkness getting closer every stride
I could here the whispers on my neck
It had started surrounding me...
And then...
Silence
I turned around and stopped running
The darkness just... stopped?
Like it hit an invisible wall
I brought my face within an inch of it
How..?
Right next to me I hear a voice
“Come on, let’s go”
A girl with a huge smile on her face
Does she even see what she just did?
I smile back
Maybe it’s best she doesn’t know :)
She takes my hand
I take one last glance at the darkness
Then we walked into the distance
And left it behind
