Loneliness

Loneliness

A Poem by Jeffrey Gershom
"

My life at times.

"

Loneliness

By

J.M. Gershom

I lay in bed with

No one but countless

Thoughts of lonely

Hope.

My mind won’t let

It rest and

My heart stokes

The flames that

Scorches the very

Depths of my being.

I think of her

Constantly and constantly

I drink to forget.

No, not forget, but

To blur the vision

In my mind’s eye.

To try and douse that

Bonfire in my vast

And pathetic soul.

I wish I could purge

Myself  of her,

Her beauty,

Her scent,

Her voice,

Her warmth,

Her taste.

No, I have never

Experienced such ripe

Fruit. I only taste

The last swig of

Whiskey

From a bottle that

Now resembles me.

Empty.

Great poem. Very well done, the imagery is fantastic and paints a really strong picture of what it is like to be longing for someone.
I especially the final metaphor of the empty whisky bottle resemble yourself.

oh the deep pain - hints of anger and remorse all combined together!! (and I'm glad you haven't been drunk for a year haha) - I liked the idea of purging - creates the notion of an addiction! nice!

This is really very good! It is amazing how someone can awaken the vast love within our hearts and when they go we feel this incredible longing to be once again full.
Well Done!

This piece speak so clear to the wants left behind when love has departed on its own leaving a heart to drown in its singular devotion to the lost. We tend or I tended to deal in the same way which is to try and drown our sorrow with drink. This is a poem expressing through the depth of meaningful grief, which is in its self one of the greatest inspirations for great pieces like you have writ.

Great Write!
RLG,
Tommy
