A Poem by Gabrielle

The roughness of the colors.

It’s always just you,

Your brushes, paints, canvas,

And your inspiration of the week.

This week; fish scales.

Try to capture the roughness of the scales,

The bright metallic colors they give off,

And the pattern they have.

They look like small crystals dont they?

Each scales is different

And is made to keep the fish unique.

No fish is the same,

And neither are we.

Soon you’ll be making your masterpiece.

Add the texture you see in the scales,

But don’t ever forget to add the color.

The color is what makes it different.

A fish's’ scales is our skin.

Everyone is different and important.

Unique and rare we are,

Just like the colors on a fish.

Feel the roughness with your hands;

It’ll remind you of something you once knew.

If it was a past lover,

A childhood memory,

Or even the carpet in your room.

Set back and see what you’ve made

And see the brightness of the colors,

And admire the gleaming crystals

You captured on canvas.

Feel the roughness through sight

and look at the reflective colors.

You’ve done it.

I like this. It flowed very well and it wasn't too choppy.
