Past Ghosts of the Asylum

Past Ghosts of the Asylum

"

Walking through these empty

halls  of pain and lost souls,

Can you hear the ghosts

of past memories  of people

that were once here.

Creepy Eerie place

of the echoes in the Asylum.

mentally unstable sick

minds that we can't even

imagine the horror that

went through their thoughts.

Walk deeper with

me I see a young man

that had a nervous

breakdown...

His mind  doesn't

seem to be the same,

He walks around and

follows his invisible

past ghost from his life.

He say's Sahara, Sahara

his little girl it is just

his memories of her.

Seeing all those frightening

tools they used on these people,

You could freak out

and it be stress and they

wouldn't know in the 1960's.

Walk through this

Asylum and you see

history but so much

frightening things.

There's a woman that

laughs like a mad woman

and runs around screaming,

Dark shadows of evil

lurk all through the halls.

They look for new

victims to make

them go insane.

Past ghosts of

the Asylum.

Close the door to

leave the screams

echo   louder.

 The  Psychotic  Insane

died in these places

and still haunt them today.

Young man has a breakdown

and is never the same,

He stays in an Asylum

the rest of his days.

Demons lurk in

dark corners in the shadows.

Past ghosts of

the Asylum.

Author's Note

Benita-Staebell M - KindredPoet
Throughout much of the nineteenth century, a husband, father, or other male authority figure could—and did—have a woman declared insane as easily as getting two doctors to sign the certificate, and they didn’t even have to see the patient. A man’s testimony was enough to get a female relative locked up in secret indefinitely. Some women suffered from “puerperal insanity,” but others were imprisoned in an asylum for no greater cause than disagreement with established norms.

Very said History in the 1960's 1800's all through different times
sad how cruelly people were treated some that weren't even sick
were put in these Frightening places and didn't right I am so glad
these Horror house hospitals don't exist any more and that they
have closed them off no wonder most of them are haunted and
some went Insane in them creepy.

The picture isn't mine but fits the poem.

Oh me gawsh! Skillet!!!~
This reminded me a bit of Grave Encounters and a book I read that I don't quite remember. It was about an asylum or some sort of prison on an island.
All I remember is one quote, that really has nothing to do with asylums.
"It's the see,
Some men take to it,
And some men it takes."
Anywho!
I love how dark and chilling this is. It's also very sad in a way that tragedy strikes a place and never seems to let go.
Well played!
