Confessions Of The Psalmist

Confessions Of The Psalmist

A Poem by Gilbert Saint
"

Its about using poetry to praise and exalt God. After all, He is the giver of talent

"

Confessions Of The Psalmist.

It has brought me neither fame nor fortune,

But when i have the chance to, I'll always drop a tune,

At times my feelings stack as high as the sand dunes,

At times my happiness stoops low as the lagoons,

In this perfect world, where one can die on a word,

Where friends slay friends, just to fulfill their evil ends.

Dear father, protect me from my friends and i will watch my foes,

Those who want to eat upon my flesh, protect me from their claws,

Bless and guide me, lest they make me walk on my toes,

Strengthen me to fight off the devil's crows,

Be my light and salvation, lead me to the cross.

Your prophets prophesied but it is you who decide,

Though tears i cry and murmurs utter, by your law i'll abide,

Through a head for Christ family, I'll grow like a herb by the riverside.

Give me fortitude to lead me to the better good,

And for my sisters who are searching, give them the best dude,

May you reign divine and for good,

Your will conduct us, till we meet in time due.

The
I think the message and tone of the work are effective. It works well as a prayer, especially if the author does more to make it seem as though a sinner is confessing and/or asking for forgiveness.

Rhyme scheme is not what makes poetry great. I've read three pieces of yours so far: adherence to rhyme scheme over content certainly does not define great poetry; rather, precision and effectiveness of craft, amongst so many other components, contribute to great poetry. "give them the best dude" detracts from your work, as does your adherence to rhyme, which makes some aspects of this poem almost incomprehensible.

Read and study more poetry. Learn how the greats became great. Do not imitate them, but become your own writer. Create a precision of craft that makes your poetry great. Great poetry appeals to the senses, to the great intellects through sound, imagery, message, skill; rhyme scheme is only optional along the way.

Best of luck to you in your future writings.
