Ramblings of a Mad Desert Rat

Ramblings of a Mad Desert Rat

A Poem by David McNeeley

I want to see those old days once more
I want to see what I had on the inside
I want to love the ones I know
I want to listen to old music and strike up the band

I know I can be self centered
I know I can forget to be a hand to hold
I'm sorry I've forgotten you
I'm sorry we parted ways for so ver long

There are those who claim the art must be ruled
They say that we must have order and control
But they don't see the limitless of artistic potential
And I'm too afraid to listen to one so old

Let me know what it is I do
How do I change the world
How did I make a way
Let me see what I need in you

God, my relationship with me has never been more true
I desire to have you in my life every day
But they said we must follow a specific way
And my heart is broken by those who are stolen by what we do

God, I want you to see what I want to do
I want you to know where my heart lies
I know you know, see, hear, and understand all
But God, sometimes I don't

I need to return to a place so ancient
A place I once called home
I desire the power I once held
A power so terrible and demanding
