![]() The Forgotten BridgeA Poem by Himaya Ka![]() Everyone was in a rush going to their own destination. No one dared to ask and say, "Hey! Are you still okay?"![]() THE FORGOTTEN BRIDGE 'Twas not a step at a time Heaps of feet stepped on me Small, medium, large Some are light Others are heavy Some are clean Others are dirty There were soft & delicate There were those with callouses Sizes, colors, and shapes It doesn't really matter Everything just the same They stepped on me I carried them all To bring them Where they should be But all those steps I wonder if there's anyone By chance remembered me Every time they pass They don't look down or look back To check whether I'm still okay Everyone was in a rush Going to their own destination No one dared to ask and say "Hey! Are you still okay?" "Am I too heavy?" "Should I walk slowly?" "Oops! I'm sorry, my feet are dirty." Everyone ignores me! Yes! I am the forgotten bridge But should I feel sorry? No, I should not! For this is my whole duty If I felt bad for being forgotten I should have collapsed already And many can't finish their journey I maybe forgotten, and not appreciated But I need to be strong for others I should think the reason of my existence A stepping stone Designed to be sturdy Strong enough to carry Without any partiality And not to take everyone personally Focus on the purpose Not to the forgetful feet Be happy enough To see them reach To where they should be For what really matters here Is the Master Builder of all To satisfy Him And to encourage Him To build more bridges like me
