Shadows past (The past of Alex) Scene 4 The newly siredA Story by GlazierAs Alex once again entered the family's dwelling he then watches to see what her newly sired daywalker parents first attentions were to be. Knowing that in mere moments both he and the teenaged girl's option to flee might be their only recourse to anJumping then through the open window Alex once again found himself off balance and rolled across the dirt floor to come to a rest a the foot of the dwellings smashed in door. Lifting himself to his feet Alex turned to face into the home and scanned the interior for the teenaged girl. He founding standing no more than five feet from her mother and father, standing almost in the center of the room. The look of shear joy showing on her face as her parents started to stir, her thoughts no doubt of the thought that her parents were not dead but alive. That look of shear joy turning in one brief moment to utter horror as her father started to rise to his feet and say,"What is this new hunger I feel?" And as the teenage girl began to back away, her hands coming together at her mouth, she cast a terrifying look towards Alex. "Come child." said Alex of the girl as he beckoned with his arms for her to come. She then ran across the room and into his waiting arms which Alex instinctively threw around her in a vain attempt to protect her. And as the girl cried into his tunic she asked,"We are going to die aren't we?" "I will protect you with my life if I must" responded Alex to the girl."If they attempt to feed on us we will flee, for there are nightwalker warrant officers about and they will protect us from your parents" said Alex. "But we must give them a chance for though they desire blood, they can still live a just and meaningful life. For if they choose not to feed on the innocent then they will be allowed to live, otherwise their lives are forfeit." The girls father stood at his full height of five foot eleven inch tall and looked to be a man of late fifties. With a balding hair line that ringed the entire outer perimeter of his head. As the girls father turned to both face and look at the two of them (both Alex and the girl) the two of them grew tense with apprehension and fear. "What has happened" asked the father to no one in particular. "I don't remember a thing" said the mother as she walked over to her dear husband and placed a comforting right hand on his left cheek."I feel this hunger too" finished the wife to her husband. As the father moved a step closer to the two of them (both Alex and the girl) while looking into the eyes of his daughter he asked her,"What of the stranger, where is he?" "Father" said the daughter of the father,"The man was a Vampire. A daywalker. He sought to sire the two of you, which he did. And he sought for the three of you to feed on me. I asked of you father now what are the intentions of both you and mother?" "A Vampire" said the mother in shock. "But the daywalkers are our protectors are they not?" asked a rather confused father of Alex as a look of confusion crossed the fathers face. "This one was not. For he is a lost one" stated Alex. "Will you both hunt us like the one that sired you would have?" asked Alex of the father and mother. "Or will you decide to live a just and honourable life now" finished Alex. "We did not ask for this" stated the mother as she continued to hold her husbands left cheek in her right hand and as she turned her head to face Alex. "The man subdued us some how and forced us into this life" stated the father and then with conviction in his voice finished,"And NO, under NO circumstances will we ever feed on any human souls in are lifetimes." "Then if what you say is indeed true then you both will be allowed to live" said Alex as he somewhat lightened his embrace with which he held the teenaged girl before continuing,"When the warrant officers arrive you will be escorted to Lord Dracul's castle where you will be expected to swear an oath to never take the life through feeding of that of an innocent. You may take the life through feeding of a violent criminal, but only if the are caught in a violent act. Otherwise" finished Alex to the couple,"you may feed off the blood of feeder Vampire or any enemy Vampires or the blood of animals, but no other blood, especially that of the innocent may you partake in ever under penalty of certain death. Do I make myself clear" finish Alex. And with that, almost as if the warrant officers had been some by a word of magic to appear at the smashed in door of the dwelling the warrant officers appeared. The first of the warrant officers to stand in the doorway of the dwelling was a man by the name of Stevro, head of Lord Dracul's royal guard. "May we enter" asked Stevro of the family. Stevro standing in the doorway stood as a strong looking thought welcoming sight, for he stood at a height of six feet two inches tall and weighing what looked to the family to be over two hundred pounds (all of muscle), with short black hair and a light golden brown complexion with dark brown eyes. Though Alex in his own right was an impressive sight to behold, with the night upon them now the family of three well knew that with a group of nightwalkers by their sides that they would truly be safe now. "You may" said the father to the nightwalker in the doorway and to the nightwalker's group just beyond. And with that the group lead by Stevro enter the dwelling. Alex knew the group (and Stevro in particular) quite well, for he had been travaling with the group now for better part of the hunt of his cousin, and Alex knew then that the for of them would be safe from the Vampire Theodore. "Their distantion is that of Dracul castle and Lord Dracul" said Alex to Stevro,"There they will swear the oath. and then settle into their daywalker lives". And with that the hunt (Alex knew) was momarily over, and that a family's new life was about to begin. With a teenaged daughter having daywalker parents and with an uncertain future the family would have to learn of a new way of life and Alex would be left to ponder his life's next course in direction (namely that of his possibley having to become a daywalker himself so as to give himself equal footing with his cousin Theodore). But that new life was yet to start. And that tommorrrow the hunt was to start anew. © 2009 Glazier |
