Unveil the Mask

We know not of their pain

Hidden within their shell

Masked behind a superficial smile

 

We know not of their trials

Hidden behind their success

Masked by their accomplishments

 

If we did would it change anything

Can we even get past our own shell

To unveil the mask of another

 

Muster up enough courage to try

Stretch enough to lend a helping hand

Take a tiny moment to make a difference

 

Could we lay down ourselves for a moment

Put away our pride long enough to notice

Long enough to notice the mask

 

The mask that is cracking

Cracking under the weight of sorrows

No longer able to hide the pain

 

That once beautiful smile now so broken

Weighed down to a frown by despair

Burdened by the pain

 

Can we take a moment to unveil the mask

Before this is nothing left

Before the once strong is no longer

 

Can we stretch out a hand

    To unveil the mask?

Yes, it's true. We don't know what people feel. Sometimes they are too good to show their smile while the wound is deeper inside. Sometimes a smile means a wicked plan. It's difficult to unveil someone's mask. The pain...the kindness.. the wickedness.. the truth is there inside..covered by a mask.
I love this. Something related to my "Concealment".
