This day is for you

This day is for you

A Poem by GoldenLights
"

I wrote this poem for my mother on Mothers Day.

"

I’ve gazed on constellations in the midst of the night.

I’ve climbed the tallest trees in which the height could cause fright.

I’ve helped homeless children battle their plight.

I’ve photographed nature through a panoramic sight.

These are all majestic, that I’ll speak forthright.

But you brought me into this world, the one and only true delight.

I’ve seen the sunset in the middle of July,

I’ve seen a double rainbow between the mountains in the sky,

I’ve felt the warmth of a Chinook go passing by,

I’ve smelt the alluring scent of a freshly baked cherry pie.

These are all magnificent, that I cannot deny.

But you are true beauty, the apple of my eye.

You’ve raised me as a gentleman with a paragon of virtue.

You took care of me in the hard times as my own personal guru.

I could change this poem up into a special kind of haiku.

But there is only one thing you should know, this day is for you.

Thank you very much for restoring my faith in inspirational writing! Life can be ugly for many, so I understand why they become cynical about upbeat expressions of beautiful feelings. But let me just say, thank God for those (like you) who have something uplifting to say. And you've said it so well, too! I love all the things you've chosen to compare with, so many original thoughts, beautiful scenes painted into our imaginations. Excellent job! Just when I needed something beautiful to read!
