To Know Him No. 1

To Know Him No. 1

A Poem by gombeggar

Knowing someone for so many years

Never even knowing who he really is, is clear

A secret agent? A marharishi?

The fifth Beatle so many times

Or the official Farm Club Captain

You know who he is

You know he’s a special moment in thyme

Played ball too many thymes in the street

Wondered how the drums sounded so neat

He’s the Ranger; his name is Bob

He’s a rocker, a real wild child

Screaming into the mike of life

Surly and wicked and not always neat, right?

But a hand clasp from days gone by

An immortal standing smile

Especially wide with young, young eyes

A toot and a snort

Captured in real thyme

So troublesome hanging on the older boys

He grew up too quick with looks so coy

Sporadic and cleft, what a surpise

My how he grew, my oh my

Heavy and dense, a trip down the road

A smaller version of us all

Likened to a grade A clone

Now when he stops to hear about the score

The tune changes meter in one loud roar

Spittle and spite, days become night

Relax and be merry or just take a breath

Rests while he can to sort it all out for the best

Upwards or down, to and fro

That’s living life full of lessons and falls

A mad sorta kid, angry and smiling

Mauled by his own troubles, but ever always glowing

Charged with the wanting to be with the boys

To grow up so quick and chance all the new toys

Smelted and gelled as all of us are

Revving his engine, a hot rod style car

Sputters and stops when he runs outta gas

Learning what happens to all of us as thyme goes on past

Rocky days and bright clean roads

Twists and turns just the way life goes

He grows up and grows down, who is to say

How this crazy kid today will behave

Respect him in his sorrows

Lend him a daring hand

He’s living life just as all of us

By doing the best that he can

I’ve known him so long

Watched him grow up from his dawn

Seen him laugh, seen him fight

Seen him on one of his drunks of life

And all this thyme, and thyme goes by quick

I never knew one simple thing

In all this thyme and all these days

Until just tonight

I didn’t even know his last name…

                 ...Ranger

This is so heart touching if I was your friend. I mean, it speaks well off your emotions which you've been honest about. That makes someone feel how special he/she is.

This is really a great read and I don't regret reading this (:

You're welcome.
Everyones dream to be the 5th Beatle and worthwhile too....it led so many to embrace the sound of that era....no wonder "here comes the sun" and "Across the Universe" famous not only in the modern world but also still rings from the voices fusion bands of The Far east and is a great respect to the band ...Hats of to the 5th Beatle.
