Giving thanks for this Thanksgiving

Giving Thanks

I am not a soldier

away from my home

I am not a beggar

always on the roam

there are ones who really care

I am not alone

so I should be giving thanks

no big swing facial tone

there are souls in places

living in despair forever

you can see it in their faces

they complain never

that is the way their life goes

ravaged by tyrants and war mongers

no job to buy food

displaced by money grabbers

some are thousands of miles away

some are almost next door

children living in cars

while the rich continue to w***e

why is life so dam hard

what is fair is always fair

this is not the way the Creator intended

unfairness everywhere

so I am giving thanks

that I somehow escaped

I have a home a family

I somehow escaped being raped

oh they tried believe me

but I would not give in

shown the door at 58

but I was lucky they did not win

bless the people who try so hard

please Lord show them mercy and love

make their thanksgiving special

send down your holy dove

True...we should not only give thanks for the big things, but for even the smallest things...I too have been thinking about "Thankfulness"
