Echoes of the torment

Echoes of the torment

A Poem by Webster

The days of Misty spring, glistening rays
Bring bright glimmers, through night into the day
What this new light may bring, who may know
Just not winters dismay, not frozen, no more

Whence darkness creeped on, through days not so dim
Turned dusk from day into the night so grim
Bellows did rein from silence so potent
Down to his knees, fallen despondent

Pitch black all around in the silence those screams
All those he let down whispered in his dreams
Is this the end? For too far he'd gone into this daze
Reminded him of errors in what seemed glorious days

No light it seems but the echoing voices did interrupt
Amidst his tear in the darkest pit he dared look up
For what seemed so far a glimmer of hope
A light did shine down a treacherous slope

Can he get out, must he go through the torment
The terror of what's difficult echoes in lament
Memories of decisions flash the corner of his eye
Of choices in brighter days, led his hope to die

Left buried in sorrows, yet he held his breath
Took that first step that might lead to hopes death
But alas he stood up and raised his heavy head
The light was right there, not in reach but onwards ahead
