The Oakwood Gift

The Oakwood Gift

A Poem by Gossamer Violet
"

It's about going on a walk in the summer woods and missing autumn so the trees shed some of their leaves on you so that you shed your sadness

"

I went for a walk

where the oak woods whisper

and the sunlight peeks through the trees.

I stopped and I looked,

for I sensed the summer,

and I said to those whispering round me:

“I come from the land

where the maple trees sigh

as they’re abandoned by their leaves,

and I miss that land

where autumn runs wild

in an apple aroma breeze.

I miss that autumn,

so I’ve just come to ask

if from this summer you’ll set me free.”

I waited and watched

as they gave no answer…

until they shed their leaves on me.

Does it make sense? Do you get the last line's meaning? How's the title? I'd like to hear what you think about this one, if you don't mind taking a moment.
