Hope

Hope

A Poem by Raven Joann Maaka-Loureiro

A ray of sunshine,

In the dark.

Shadows want it to disappear,

Darkness tries to consume it.

But the single

Ray remains.

Curiosity killed the cat,

But it over powers her free will.

Sent to her from her father,

For bidden to open it,

Zeus told her.

Creatures so evil,

Pouring out.

Doom for all humans,

Nothing can escape from these things.

For disease, disappear, malice, old age,

And death, hatred, violence, cruelty, and

War!

But don’t worry,

Dear humans,

For she closed the lid,

Turned the key,

And lock in that ray of sunshine.

That darkness tries to conquer,

But the single ray remains.
