Broken Soul

Broken Soul

A Poem by Lauren

Broken Soul-

I collapse and sink to the floor

I hold my hands palm up so I can look at something else

Blood red tears spill down my cheeks and onto my hands

They roll down the sides and seep into my clothing

I burrow myself deeper in my pain

I refuse to look up, to see what I’ve been avoiding for years

My head finally finds its way up to see a mirror

But all I can see is a broken heart.

This poem was well versed in form, and the flow was both measured, and haunting.
On the flip side I could feel the broken heart, and the pen that bleeds to write the words. Very nice! And thank you for sharing.

This is a singular heartbreak . . . spilling boundaries, collapsing bridges, free-flowing endlessly. In such short verse, you have painted an anguish so compelling as to stop time. I do hope this write is not biographical. It is beautifully done, nevertheless. j
