Taking My Aim

Taking My Aim

A Poem by Greg J muscroft Poet
"

A poem about beauty in various forms

"

Taking my aim as carefully as you need,

I`ll split the atom in two,

as planets collide and converge,

fracturing colour and hue.

I`ve seen your many shapes and shades,

the light bends, splinters and fades.

Through this lense I can see your beauty,

I can see real beauty,

this lense brings you and I closer,

it seems to magnify and I try to figure you out,

study your shape and form,

the storm is closing in, washing our sin,

and I wonder, where do I go to begin?

Taking my aim as carefully as you need,

I`ll fire cupid`s arrow into your heart,

hold the bow, i`m no Robin Hood,

if it finds the target, I`ll eat my own feet,

pour me a whisky, neat!

Taking my aim as carefully as you need,

I`ll throw a lasso around the moon,

I`ll pull it down so that it`s within inches of fingers,

you`ll beg to play,

but the sky`s too dark for it to stay.

I can see the shyness in you, you turn your head to hide your smile,

as if I wouldn`t know it`s there,

and yet you never miss a chance to make me aware of your true feeling,

you`re stealing a look through your long blonde hair,

you think I don`t notice.

Taking my final aim as carefully as you need,

I`ll burst this dam, see the water flow,

all around we`re drenched from head to toe,

but cleansed of our childhood sin,

and the grin on our faces gets a little wider,

and our eyes enlarge and our bodies feel the youth and energy of yesterday,

as we click and sway to the beat,

no retreat, let`s see your dancing feet.

kick off those heels, it feels so good,

touch wood it always feels this good,

and I should have signed your name across my heart,

the start of something grand,

I land with both feet upon the ground,

but my head`s in the clouds,

always the clouds.

A very solid ending, reinforces a "stuck landing" so-to-speak as I see matches the motif of the position of your feet in relation to your "standing" with the subject throughout the poem. I liked the lyrical quality imparted to the reading tongue, it was liquid. Well-penned methinks... the first section reminded me a bit of Thom Yorke's earlier lyrical work, which I really loved. Not a carbon copy or anything, just of a similar feel.
