It was just a little tooth

It was just a little tooth

A Poem by Greg Skura

I feel like such a goof

It was just a little tooth

I can’t get it out of my head

When I asked “if he’d pull it”

He said “no let’s just drill it”

“And put in a cap instead”

He drilled out the root

The nerve made me hoot

He should’ve pulled it, I’ve read

My work was then failing

The earnings were trailing

No tooth fixing was to be seen

A few years gone, what I’m doing

Flax corn chips, what I’m chewing

That little tooth, blew apart at the seams

And now there’s a rumor

There might be a tumor

From my tooth to my jaw to my brain

Greg Skura

P.S.  I thought I would poke a little fun at this very serious issue

Love the first stanza - how you couldn't 'get the tooth out of your head'...lovely little pun. Interesting rhyme scheme, a little unusual, and that's what makes this piece stand out. The frivolous tone of the poem and the abruptness of the chilling last stanza and postscript made me shudder.

PS - hope you're ok

The first poem I have read from this writer, funny, well written, a very hard thing to do, write a good humourous poem...then the shock of the last lines. I hope you will be fine..

Fun has been poked quite successfully.
You have also focused on dentistry very successfully.
Thanks for sharing an important issue.
I have been checking my artificial teeth in reality!
