Gaslight

Gaslight

A Poem by GuinessGirl

Living by candlelight is no way to survive
You can never see clearly
Or distinguish what’s in the shadows as safe
The corners of rooms disappear
People’s faces can easily hide the truth

Living in question and fear is no way to survive
You can never think clearly
Or distinguish who is trustworthy and safe
The simplicity of people disappear
People’s faces can easily hide the truth

Living in denial is no way to survive.
You can never hear clearly
Or distinguish what is being said as safe
The audio world around you disappears
People’s faces can easily hide the truth of what is being said

Living without love is no way to survive.
Your senses are heightened , and all of a sudden everything is clear.
Although the world may not be safe, in that one person’s arms you always will be.
The problems of the world drip away,
and for that one moment, everything is simplistic; everything disappears.
Their face brings you comfort, and will never hide the truth.
So please, somebody turn on the Gaslight.
