Love...

Love...

A Poem by TheGutless
"

A poem I wrote thinking about what I couldn't but wanted to have.

"
So many ideas on love are incorrect.
But we are not perfect, so what can you expect?
They say love is blind, but we know that is not true.
For if your bride/groom was so called ugly , would you really say "I do?"
I envy the blind in this one situation.
True love they do find, no need for appearance persuasion.
But for the rest of us why do we lie to ourselves and others.
Acting like looks don't matter to find our lovers.
Of course love does go beyond the looks.
Beyond if they have money or if he or she can cook.
But I do believe it starts at sexual attraction.
With the look of their face and body for our own satisfaction.
Sometimes we have no explanation of why we fell.
Fell so madly in love, fell further than hell.
You see the person and get happy with ease.
Or maybe you still get that "butterflies in your belly" disease.
The feeling you can't fully explain.
Not really joy, yet so far from pain.
 Some relationships begin with lust.
Where being faithful is nice to have, but sex is a must.
Others are delayed and may take a while.
But you realize that person makes you smile.
Not just smile, but laugh and cry.
With tears of happiness or just saying good-bye.
Though not all feelings are shared between two.
It could be you loving them, and them not loving you.
Is that the whole idea behind a crush?
Where you put your heart out and it turns to mush?
Or is it how some others perceive?
Where your heart pain was just temporary, like a headache with Aleve.
So when do you know if your feelings were real?
If you think of that person during every meal?
When you find another, but you don't feel the same?
So you lie, make a forced smile, but you can't ease the pain.
Who knows, maybe you find another.
One better than all the others.
But who knows... maybe you won't.
Not being a pessimist, but maybe you don't.
A life alone, of course you have friends.
You want some one closer, with your love to lend.
Someone to wake up next to for the rest of you life.
Someone to be with you whether husband or wife.
Not everything you want can come to be.
Like living forever with that person, or being a mermaid/merman in the sea.
So no matter how hard you push or how many times you try.
You would just end up wasting time until the day you die.
It takes time, and time heals all wounds, but they never tell you how long to wait.
It could be the next second or on your death date.
I'm not going to say there is no sense in crying.
For all your true emotions you would be defying.
There might come a point where you can move on.
Where you don't think of them on the break of dawn.
I guess the only thing you can do is wait and see.
Just hope you get over your crush or love faster than me.
For I know too well of this struggle called love.
I made it my own, or it was sent from above.
If anyone who reads this is feeling this way too.
Try to remember all the crap you have gone through.
If what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, then we are as tough as a rock.
We get stronger every minute by the ticking of the clock.
You will want to see the person, the beautiful smile on their face.
And there will always be memories you cannot erase.
If you know it can't be, take this time to learn.
You can't always have the things you yearn.
Not all my ideas on love are true or correct.
But I am far from perfect, so what do you expect?
