Calypso's Night

Calypso's Night

A Poem by Holly Mason

Calypso the cat was rather fat,
and ran the neighborhood he did.
Until one night when the mom was away,
and the dog was left to look after the cat.
Well all was fine till just about nine,
when the cat realized he was hungry.
Well that's when lucked turned,
and the dog should of learned,
that Calypso was going to have a full tummy.
So the cat pawed the bag then started to drag
and all around the floor the food went.
Now that being said the mom showed her head
and Calypso now lay on the floor.
Paw on his side and whiskers all wet,
he looked like a dead kitty carpet.
Calypso looked so weak and so meek,
the dog didn't stand a chance.
So now the mom yells and all should quell,
but Calypso has still no chow.
This is enough ,he is going to get rough.
Calypso, he thinks what else can I eat?
Then sees the fishbowl just shining.
The dog notices this and yes has a fit,
but out the backdoor he goes.
Paw in the water, picks the fish right out.
Mom walks in and oh what a sin,
Calypso had let the dog back in!
Now a weak little paw and so soft "meow".
Even with the fins stuck on his chin,
Calypso's gets out of this trouble.
The dog so calmly goes back outside
and plots revenge on this cat.
So barking he starts till the neighborhood is awake,
but they all love Calypso yet another dog mistake.
Now locked up with the collar and chains,
Calypso will drive the dog insane.
Calypso the cat is not a good friend,
but the dog will be true to the very end.
