Swimming Love

Swimming Love

A Poem by Holly Mason

toe goes first
water so cold
dip the foot
shake off the shivers
two feet
both on the step
inching in
up to the thigh
hits your tummy
loose your breath
up in water
up to your chest
teeth chatter
heart pounds
head going in
your whole body
going down
under now
looking up
sparkling sunshine
legs kicking
all about
warming up
come up
for air
gasp at life
memory set
remember again
love and pools
cold to warm
slowly keeping
constant form

This could be about almost anything in life, water, relationships, politics, religion. I'm one of those stupid people that dives right in like a fool...maybe I should try your method next time, not sure if it sounds less painful, more cautious I guess. Good read Holly!

Well you have describe it perfectly, thse moments when you first step in always feel so cold, it is funny how quickly the water warms up once you play. Very nice.
