Bouncing Babies

Bouncing Babies

A Poem by Holly Mason

"I do not have my shoes!"
"Well why not? Get it together!"
"Mom they are at dads,I am sorry."
"That is it! All your stuff stays here now!"

Divorces new take on parenting

"I am sorry teacher. My science project isn't finished."
"No excuses from you again always forgetting this or that."
"I was at my moms but my dad picked me..."
"I do not care what your problem is get it fixed!"

Overlooking students of divorce cannot be easy

"Dad I just want to stay at moms this weekend."
"I have had it with your mom always saying things
about me and messing with your head!I am just sick of it!"
"Well dad it is not mom I want to go to a birthday party...just pick me up."

He is only 12
the courts say
one week here
one week there
since he was 3
now things are everywhere
he has all the responsibility
bouncing babies
stability shot
and all he thinks
"All of you can stuff it!"
and then we
blame him

Reading this poem, got me, thinking about my own cousins, who have divorced and their children caught, in the middle. Life is tough at times, with two parents. Hate to imagine, what its like bouncing between two. I hope, this poem isn't from your own personal experience, Holly

it's always so tough for the kids...they are the victims when there is divorce...and unfortunately they often blame themselves...

this write is sharp.
