Rocking with Sway

Rocking with Sway

A Poem by Holly Mason

all around are sounds of life
caressing cheeks of a lonely wife
heartbroken sadness
on this dawn appears
she should of been dancing
after all of these years
the children laughing
puppy breath for play
instead the lonely wife
knits her time away
quietly thinking
rocking with sway
a comforting moment
with the right things to say
lonely wife ponders
as she rocks away
for she to knows
that she likes to play
rocking her hips
dawn rising lips
slowly she knits
with loving fingertips
thoughts are only hers
of them she will keep
lovingly smiling
while thinking so deep
rocking and swaying
she knits the day
but in her mind
she is rocking at play

This piece will make me look twice at the older ladies in the retirement home I visit in their rocking chairs and wonder just what they are imagining and why they are smiling...lol

Well written Holly
