Poetic Lenses

Poetic Lenses

A Poem by Holly Mason

I hand you a gift
open it...

glasses, just a pair of glasses
now put them on
what do you see?
A mountain, a stream, a flower
now look closer
what do you see?
A mountain...that kisses the sunset
and sets the soul on fire
with colors that explode
A stream...that glistens in reflection
trickling, softly speaking
you see it's heart
A flower...petals each so different
blooming in peace, beautiful peace
so enchanting

I have given you the most wonderful pair of glasses
you will now see the world through a poet's eyes
cherish the explosion of heart...forever enchanting

you know, most people would forget them somewhere, lose them, break them or sell them on ebay or craiglist. I have done a couple poems like this, but in mine I just spoke of what I see. Your heart is one that wants to share the visions of depth and clairity you and many poets see with everyone. Yours is a willing and open heart, a gift to your own soul that transcends everything of this physical plane.

Once again you did a great job here in this piece. Last three lines're well penned. Keep writing.

Holly, I love this piece! Some people really only see mountain, stream and flower. The details! It's all about the details. Exploring the details with poetry makes it possible for someone to really see! Well done. Angi~

To see the world through any artist's eyes is to see so much more so differently...

this is wonderful, Holly...in next to last line "poet's eyes"--

but yes, we could think of ourselves as a pair of glassses for the reader to see what maybe they don't notice very often if at all.
