Another Life

Another Life

A Poem by Haley M.
"

A woman finds a way to leave her married life and still remain - but she does so in a way that protects her from emotional and verbal abuse.

"
How great is death to end my grief
Sorrow's touch the sudden thief
of hope in love so very brief
my shattered soul in its debris
Revisited by evils past
trust in love that fails to last
tempts me so to simply cast
my world away from me
To run away from all my fear
Forsaking all that I hold dear
And never hide another tear
That others may not see
And so there is another life
I live devoid of loss and strife
I leave the world of man and wife
And never have to flee

Unique. I like the rhyme scheme that you chose for this. I don't think I've seen it before. "I leave the world of man and wife." Interesting choice of words.
