Night Creeps In

Night Creeps In

A Poem by Dillon Williamson

Night creeps in

It doesn’t rush like the speeding bullet that is oblivion

It slowly paints itself among the stars

Seeping into the ground,

Dark, bruise-colored ink soaking into a sponge

Night creeps in

Night creeps in

It comes from all sides

As the sun sets in the West,

Shadows of trees are thrown farther,

Toward the East

While from the East,

The sky bruises slowly

Toward the West

From both sides,

And all around,

Night creeps in

Night creeps in

But not all is shadow

The bruised light-blue smurf flesh of the sky

Is broken by the speckles of starlight

There is light in the darkness,

And yet,

Night creeps in.

The first verse was just so WOW - what a fantastic opener for what went on to be a fantastic and vividly painted read. I am impressed.

Hah well, I'm glad I made you happy 😉
You are welcome ☺
This is so beautiful. I especially like the lines "Shadows of trees are thrown farther,
Toward the East" and "The sky bruises slowly". Makes me want to go outside and watch day turn to night.
