Why We Do

What I about to explain to you sadly isn't understood by all around us. All I can do is hope that you, my friend, do. 

We read and write because the world around us hasn't lived up to our expectations so far.

We read to escape reality.

We write to create our own world. 

We read because fictional characters are all we know and all we need.

We write because then we have a true connection with a person, fictional or not. 

We read to know that there are others with the same beliefs and views. 

We write to express. 

We read because we are able to find ourselves in another person's world. 

We write to tell others they aren't alone. 

We read and we write for all of the same reasons, without even realizing it.
