Between A Dream

This is the first poem I've ever written. I recently deleted a story with this same title because I found this and have now decided to post it. This is where my username and the phrase come from.

Not quite awake
Not quite asleep
That is where
The monsters creep

Deep in my mind
Lost in my heart
These hideous creatures
Tear me apart

Trapped by a web
Stuck in a net
The face of the monster
I'll never forget

The bond of reality
Is ripped to shreds
It turns out the monsters
Were not in my head

But rather they stood
Right in plain view
The monster is me
And the monster is you

Not everything
Is quite as it seems
Because I'm lost somewhere
Between a dream
