Alone in the Cold

Alone in the Cold

A Poem by Jared Michael Smith
"

Not that great, but it's all I've got for now.

"
Snow,
Softly falling upon
The frozen ground.
I stand in the field,
Watching the flakes
Flutter and fly as
They collect.

Cold,
Clothing me in
A frigid embrace,
Chilling me to the bone.

Ice,
Freezing mind,
Freezing body
Freezing soul.
Encased in a cage
Of wintry regret.
