His silhouette

His silhouette

A Poem by Savannah Gossett

I have always imagined what being in love felt like

I imagine it's the best feeling in the world

To know that someone truly cares about you

To know that everything will be okay when he’s near

To know that your safe with him

But it doesn’t

I had a love

And I did truly love him

And he truly loved me in his own way

When I think about that past love

Or what feels like life

It doesn’t hurt

Not as much as it did being near him

But now I'm more scared than sad

I'm scared of him

I'm scared of my love

Because knowing what he did to me

Doesn’t go away

Knowing that it’s real by looking in the mirror

Doesn’t go away

Knowing what it felt like every time he got angry

Doesn’t go away

But instead of all that going away

I did

I understand the above lines. Sometime a sweet can turn hurtful. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

Really enjoyed the poem . I thought it was clever with a snappy ending that is sure to entertain and please a reader, it did with me. Good writing.

I didn't think the line, "But it doesn’t " was apropos of anything previously written and it should be, so maybe I missed something, or maybe the writer assumes the reader sees something only the writer knows.
