Breathing Underwater

Sometimes I wish I was a mermaid 

Sometimes I wish I was a fish 

Sometimes I wish I was a shark

Sometimes I wish I was a squid 

I wish to be anything that lies under the water 

I wish this because 

Maybe then I can be happy 

Maybe then I can feel safe 

Maybe then I can just feel something 

Anything 

But it doesn't work like that

If only 

If only the world wasn’t so deceiving 

If only the world wasn’t so sad

If only the world had room for someone like me in it 

If only I could breathe underwater

Because if I can maybe just maybe 

I would know what it feels like to breathe 

And I mean really breathe 

Because to me breathing is something you need to live 

And without it you’re gone 

Drifting away into thin air like you never existed

That’s what it feels like for me to not breathe

So I wish again to breath underwater

I love the way you write. It feels so real. And i SWEAR, i can relate to each of your poems somehow! When i read your poems, i feel them because especially the way you use repetition for emphasizing is like no other! In this one, they way you've plotted the words is so fun to read!
