Inspiration

Inspiration

A Poem by J Walsh

With flowers on the table old and withered,
attention turns upon the box of glass;

“There’s rain today”, the weatherman delivered,
though droplets on the window told me that.

I’ve seen my photographs too many times,
I’m bored of what they hold. So next I turn
to iTunes. Shuffle. Rocking with the rhymes

distracts me from what I’m supposed to learn.

My bedroom view’s the same as when I woke,

though slightly darker as the day’s progressed.
At least I look at life to the north-west.

And Facebook gives me teenage moans, provoked

by placid grievances that strike each day.
I think I’ll join them: “can’t think what to say”.

Writer's block can be a wonderful thing at times. Force yourself to write about how your immediate surroundings can provide inspiration... then ignore them all!
