Dial Tone

Dial Tone

A Poem by Harlow Eve

Did you hear me?
I said that I miss you.

Did you feel that chill down your spine?
If you did, it was me, I swear it was me.

My breath may be cold but what it whispers
holds a volcano of secrets I forgot to share.

Did you hear me? I said that I miss you.

My lilac lips tremble as they confuse the dirt for the way you used to kiss me.

Did you f*****g hear me?
I said that I love you.

I said it multiple times without stuttering.
Did you feel that unexpected
wind dance with your skin?

If you did, it was me, I swear it was all me.

You never did believe that I was the one
and that's when I started to believe
that colors do drain into oblivion
during the first step of heartbreak.
I turned transparent to a love
that doesn't love me.

Did you hear me?
Of course not.
I'm a ghost to a person
who doesn't believe in ghosts.

Desperate and a bit of anger is what comes at me from this nicely written piece. I'm right here, can't you see me? You project these emotions and feelings directly at the reader. Nice job on this.
