![]() Chapter 10A Chapter by Chris![]() Sean tries to go meet Alex in the parking lot, but it doesn't work out too well.![]()
The rest of the school day went by pretty quickly for Sean. He was in a lot better of a mood than what he normally was and it even made him think that things were going to start looking up for him now. Not a single bad thing had happened since Saturday. It was the end of school now and Sean was at his locker, getting everything he needed for his homework that night. He tried to finish up as quickly as he could so that he could go and meet Alex at his car. Sean didn't want to keep the older boy waiting, especially because of the fact that it was pouring down rain at the moment. As soon as he got all his things, he closed his locker door and started to walk towards the doors leading out of the building.
Alex was waiting outside next to his car like he said he would be. An umbrella was over his head to keep him dry as he stood there. He didn't want to get into the car because he wanted to make sure Sean would be able to find him. As he stood there though, Alex's eyes wandered around a little. Students ran to their cars or to the buses, trying to keep themselves from becoming completely drenched by the rain. There was no sign of Sean yet though.
Sean continued to walk down the hall. There weren't really too many people in the hall, which made it a bit quiet. Sean just looked straight ahead as he walked, not really paying any attention to anything around him. He just wanted to go meet Alex as soon as he could so he wouldn't have to wait on him much longer. “Hey Sean, what's the rush?” came a voice. Sean looked to the side to see the group of boys that usually pestered him. They all wore smirks on their faces as they looked at Sean. Not wanting to get into any trouble with them, he just continued to walk. However, he soon felt a tug on his backpack and he was yanked backwards towards the boys. “It's not nice to ignore people you know,” said the boy holding the handle on Sean's backpack. “Get off of me,” Sean said a little angrily. The dark-haired boy tried to pull away from the other boys, but he only ended up getting pulled back again, this time falling onto the ground. They somehow managed to get his backpack too. Their laughs filled the hall as they started to take off with it while passing it around a little.
Alex was still waiting outside by the car. A quiet sigh escaped his parted lips as he looked around a little. He was starting to wonder if Sean was even coming. There weren't too many people leaving the school building anymore and it wouldn't be long until the buses left either. Alex continued to wait there nonetheless though, figuring he would give Sean a bit more time.
“Give that back!” Sean shouted as he followed his backpack from person to person, trying to grab it when it was thrown. “You'll have to try harder if you want it!” one of the boys shouted as he threw Sean's backpack to someone else. Sean continued to chase after the boys, trying to get his backpack back. After a little while, they threw his backpack far down the hall way before running off. Sean let out a sigh before running to go get it so he could get out of there.
By this time Alex was just about the only one in the parking lot now and the buses had already left. Thinking that Sean probably wasn't going to show, he put down his umbrella and got in the car. A sigh escaped his mouth as he sat there in the driver's seat, a little disappointed that Sean didn't show up. It didn't bother him too much though. He just figured Sean forgot.
Sean burst out of the building only to find who he assumed to be Alex leaving the parking lot of the school. A few curse words slipped out of his mouth as he saw this before he looked around. There was no way he was going to get a ride home now. It looked like the only thing he could do was walk. After several long minutes of walking, Sean finally managed to get home. His clothes and backpack were completely drenched from the large amounts of rain that had pelted him during that time. “Where the hell have you been?” Sean's father yelled. “Hell, do we not get dinner tonight or something?” “Sorry, I'll make it after I change into some dry clothes,” muttered Sean. “Forget it. All of us might as well just starve to death since you don't give a crap about any of us.” An irritated sigh escaped Sean's mouth. Not in the mood to deal with this, he just headed straight to his room to change into a pair of dry clothes. He laid down on his bed afterwards and stared up at the ceiling. Sean couldn't help but to feel a little bad about not meeting Alex in time. He felt like a complete jerk and he just hoped Alex didn't hate him for it. He figured the only thing he would have to do was apologize. © 2008 Chris |
