Mi Amor

Mi Amor

A Poem by Charles Chukwuani

My breathing was heavy and intermittent,
Wanting to pour my life into her,
I pushed and pressed with increasing vigour,

Our lips met softly as I paused between thrusts,
Her chest was bare and riddled with sweat,
My sweat or hers I could no longer tell,
Ah, my love,
Her skin soft to the touch of my fingers,
Not wanting to let my lack of experience fail me,
I thought back to the videos I'd seen,
Maintaining a steady rhythm was of the utmost importance,
As the minutes dragged on and my tempo stabilized,
Never looking away from the eyes,
Of my love,
Sprawled on top of each other on the warm sand,
The waves crashing along the shore as if to match my rhythm,
Glistening moonlight seeming to focus only on us,
Goddess Gaia sending a message through nature,
That she is in tune,
With my love,
My fading energy soon made me aware,
That my journey with her would soon come to pass,
Faster, faster, FASTER,  I went,
Each second seeming to be both an eternity and an instant,
And I spent myself completely,
In my love,
Falling on top of her with rasping breaths,
Confusing the intensity of my heartbeat alone as two,
I allowed myself for a moment to believe,
That I couldn't hear the laughter of the shadows from Hell,
Cackling with glee and giggling with mirth,
At my love,
Because I knew deep down that another already had his way with her body,
Who is he, you ask?
The Grim Reaper with his dreadful scythe of death,
I felt the moment she left this world in my arms,
My wholehearted attempts to revive her proving unsuccessful,
And I lost myself in despair,
For my love.
