Writer's Block

Writer's Block

A Poem by Charles Chukwuani

Fingers drumming against the table,
Pen tossed aside in anger,
As he tries to come up with an idea,
Something unique,
Something that piques,
Interests,
Words that express his emotional complex,
Stuck on the tip of his tongue,
Unable to come forth,
They regress back into the recesses of his mind,
Rifling through the dictionary page by page,
For any sort of inspiration,
An escape from this mental cage,
His cerebral neurons battered with rain and lightning,
Call that brainstorming,
But it yields no substantial results,
He gives up and closes his eyes,
Inhales and exhales,
And as he finally lets his frustration go,
Like a magical spell,
The words suddenly start to flow,
He picks up the pen and begins to write,
"Fingers drumming against the table"...
