Duality

Duality

A Poem by Charles Chukwuani

The shivers,
I’m getting the shivers,
The shakes,
The quivering nerves,
The bodily earthquakes,
Bipolar,
Schizophrenic,
Split personality,
Damn shrinks keep trying to classify me,
Like I’m some kind of bug,
Do I look like ET?
Why can’t they all just let me be,
I’m okay,
I’m fine,
I’m taking a nice evening walk,
Speeding up the pace because,
There’s the girl I want to stalk,
Smooth skin short hair,
M’lady is quite fair,
How my blood boils for her,
This sanguine fervor,
Will this full moon that only the stars can see,
Awaken the dormant werewolf in me?
I’m so close to her now,
And the coin flip goes off in my head,
Will it be heads or tails?
Two-Face or Dent?
Circular metal landing on the safe side,
Fading into the shadows I watch her walk away,
For tonight I remain Jekyll and not Hyde.
