Bird of Paradise

This poem is another love poem. I had submitted it only once before recently editing it.

Shall I compare you

To a bird of paradise?

Your words are sweet and true

Your heart, golden and wise

 

Shall I pick a red rose

And place it in your hair?

Should I kneel and propose

To you, a young lady so fair?

 

Oh, those ebony eyes so clear

That stature, slim and dignified

Oh, those lips of cherry red, so dear

When I meet you, I’m hypnotised

 

Is it too strange, too unwise

To crown you queen of my heart?

Please let us never part

My bird of paradise

I like writing about the actual bird of paradise so this creative comparison to a lady love is so creatively poetic to read of, even I have used the same Shakespearean line to compare like you did in my u posted poem but your version is romantic and impressive. Kudos,

This is a beautiful and romantic peice. I did notice that the last stanza has an abba rhyme pattern while the rest of the poem is abab. I am wondering if you changed up your rhyme scheme on purpose to draw attention?
