Sun! O Sun!

Sun! O Sun!

A Poem by Hayley
"

Happiness is often an illusion.

"

Sun! O Sun!
Do your rays warm the heavens above

With sparkling arms wrapped in love?

Perhaps the woebegone a radiant beam can find

To soak in his eye and make him blind.

He who will not see

For the rest of his life will happy be.

Sun! O Sun!

The beggar now dances in the street

For he eats by day the merry beat.

His coat of dirt now shines clean;

Forsaken eyes construe a world so serene.

Sun! O Sun!

Where light mirrors the glass,

A brevity of truth will in a moment pass;

Saying this, I will reside by the sea

Before I’m perceiving life without honesty.

"To soak in his eye and make him blind." i love that line- and simple is beautiful.

I enjoyed the line "Where light mirrors glass": It's almost like there are multiple images. "He who will not see/ For the rest of his life will happy be". I think that is my favorite line because it seems like, someone who fails to notice the way things are and always have been, he who refuses to look at the big picture will always be happy, because he is ignorant. Good job, these are mighty precious words.

A powerful mix of angst and emotion, it's clear that the romantics have a great influence on you at this time, however I can't help but feel that the darker elements of prose are seeping in just as much, which if I may say so, I love even more. "The beggar now dances in the street
For he eats by day the merry beat.
His coat of dirt now shines clean;
Forsaken eyes construe a world so serene."
Words to make a reader shiver with excitement and awe, well done.

He who will not see
For the rest of his life will happy be.

nothing simple bout that statement... I love it... if we could all see more with our hearts than our eyes this world would be a better place void of prejudice and bullying.

To write simply and well is one of the most difficult tasks there is...otherwise, we'd all be Hemingway. LOL.

Simplicity...oh you shine with this poetic thought...to write with the simpleness of words and yet light up the skies...

Candid speech tends to come from the heart. Your words are powerful and moving because of the sincerity. Juliet was Romeo's sun...but this poem gave me a deeper understanding of what he felt when he looked at her.
You've penned a real beauty.
