Iosian Period Poem 9: Canticle of Love

Iosian Period Poem 9: Canticle of Love

A Poem by Heartless Dove

Together we saunter through this meadow of flowers

Laughing and being happy for we are expressing our true affection

I pick a rose to show my passion for my angel

Its beautiful red resembles the color of your luscious lips

Golden hair so heavenly to touch

Eyes of jade, the pigment of the grass that dances in this valley

The aroma of this scented flower is intoxicating, attracting us towards each other

I bring you to the bed of roses that we lie down on embracing each other

Interlocking fingers, we begin an enthusiastic kiss

Our souls harmonize and danced a dance, the Tango, in heaven

A tear cascades down your face

I wipe the cold symbol of sorrow away from your countenance

Looking deep into your watery eyes, I tell you these words of inspiration,

“My love, always know that I am here.

When your time comes, you will blossom and joy will return.

Such as a baby chick about to outstretch its wings,

Be not afraid to embrace this feeling.”

Joy overwhelms your spirit,

And you smile at me with desire and love

We once again kiss for the final time, and I turn away

Knowing that I cannot always stay, I walk into the setting sun

Thoughts cloud your mind telling you many things

Chasing after the very thing in your heart, you continuously run

By the time you reach him you are too late

Falling to your knees with tears cascading down your sculpted expression

Suddenly, the chirping and hum of the birds ceases to exist

The crunching of the dead flowers brings more sadness to your depressed heart

A figure appears and kneels in front of you

I lift your smooth chin up so we look eye to eye

Happiness returns to your melancholy heart

Life blooms across this dark ditch

The sun rises in the east and is between the both of us

The birds chirp a tune of excitement

Thousands of butterflies encompass our bodies

The choirs of heaven sing the canticles of exaltation

Taking your wonderful face into my hands, I kiss your cherubic cheeks

We wrap around each other, the warmth of both our hearts expelling all chills

A celestial body descends upon us causing us to embrace each other

Together we are united eternally

The animals cuddle around the both of us forming a scene never to be forgotten

The calm wind whistles a soothing tune

We join in the glorious singing of the heavens and earth

You look into my very soul with eyes of passion

Saying to me, “I love you.”
