Snap awake
Not much loss

More caffeine
Avoid the dreams
Avoid too many painful memories

Eyelids flutter
Head begins to fall

Take a cold shower
Turn the music up loud

Drink a little whiskey
Act a little more proud

Black spots dance in my vision
Sounds begin to drown
Images blur together
Losing focus
Losing strength
Can barely move

But I refuse to sleep.
