Thrall

Thrall

A Poem by H. Rex
"

He's no better for you now than he ever was.

"
Open your eyes and see the cage you've built for yourself
Trading security for love, sealing the lock without a key
He's no home, no lover, no seldom and no help
When will you realize that it's always just been me

Happy dagger, twisted in my gut stays secure
But he still loves you no more than an empty, painted shell
And while I've certainly never claimed to be pure
You've driven us both straight to hell

But I'll still offer you my right hand and dust off your falls
Your ghost can sit comfortably at home with me
Willingly apprenticed, I've become a prince of thralls
Locked inside an empty house, one day you'll see

That is your perception perhaps she sees it differently.
Never the less well written
